Frank Tyszka Mayor of the City of Ansonia, Connecticut Sworn into office December 1, 2025 As the City's chief executive officer, Mayor Tyszka is responsible for the administration and supervision of all City departments, agencies, and offices, the enforcement of all laws and ordinances, and the overall efficient government of Ansonia. He works to advance the City's finances, public safety, infrastructure, and quality of life for all residents.

About the Mayor's Office

The Mayor is the chief executive officer of the City of Ansonia, as established by the City Charter. The Mayor's duties and powers encompass the full range of executive and administrative functions of City government, including but not limited to:

• Administration and supervision of all City departments, agencies, and offices.
• Enforcement of all City laws and ordinances and preservation of the public peace.
• Preparation and submission of the City's annual budget to the Board of Aldermen.
• Making nominations and appointments to the City's boards and commissions.
• Selection and appointment of department heads.
• Serving as the City's bargaining agent and personnel director in all labor and employment matters (excluding the Board of Education).
• Directing the investigation of available state and federal funds and grants on behalf of the City.
• Communicating regularly with the Board of Aldermen on the state of the City's finances, government, and public improvements.
• Either approving or vetoing votes, resolutions, orders, or ordinances passed by the Board of Aldermen.
• Directing performance evaluations of all department heads and supervising City personnel policies.
• Signing all bonds, deeds, and written contracts of the City where the amount involved exceeds one thousand dollars.
• Mediating differences between City boards, commissions, and other public bodies regarding the interpretation of City policies.
• Serving as the official ceremonial head of the City.
